Session 21 Wrap Up!

We are happy to announce that Session 21 has been a positive and effective learning experience for both our instructors and students. Below please find some of our instructors’ class highlights from Session 21!

Abeer Sarfraz - Fundamentals of Elementary Mathematics Instructor:

One of the biggest highlights of this session was watching my students excel at the Kahoot games I created to consolidate the material for each class! It was a great opportunity for them to collaborate on questions they found challenging, ask for support when needed, and most of all, participate in some friendly "competition". After speaking to each of the regular attendees, I found that they loved this aspect of my class, and as such, I will continue to incorporate them into my lessons moving forward!”

Ria Sethi - Introduction to Impromptu Speaking Instructor:

“My favorite is definitely seeing the students actively engage with each other during impromptu activities and our icebreakers. One memorable moment was when a student who was initially shy ended up leading a group discussion with enthusiasm! I've also appreciated the open communication with parents, who’ve shared how much their kids are enjoying the process.”

Session 22 Registration is Open!

Session 22 Student Registration is officially starting! With an amazing team of diligent instructors, 15+ classes in fields ranging from math to history to dancing, and great free learning opportunities for students, this session is off to a great start!

Session 22 Classes

In Session 22, we have a roster of both staple Youth Passion Project classes and new courses. Listed below are the courses being offered for this session along with their class descriptions!

Greek Mythology

In this course, you'll learn in-depth Greek mythology along with the historical context of those myths. You'll learn about myths such as Hades and Persephone, Hades and Persephone, Gaia and Uranus, and Orpheus and Eurydice. We'll cover Creation Myths, Gods, Heroes, Intersecting Myths, the Underworld, the Trojan War, and more to teach beginners everything they need to know about Greek mythology and all of the historical and philosophical connections that SCHOOL DOESN'T TEACH YOU through in-depth class discussions: Are there really any heroes in the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, or in the world at large? How can you live your life without regret, and why didn't the souls sentenced to Tartarus use these tactics? And more. No prior knowledge required.

Anatomy & Physiology 101

Have you ever wondered what makes your heart beat or how your brain helps you think? In Anatomy and Physiology 101, you'll dive into the mysteries of the human body to find out! We'll explore everything from the bones that give us shape to the muscles that help us move, and the organs that keep us alive and healthy. Through fun activities and easy-to-understand lessons, you'll discover how all the parts of your body work together to keep you going every day. Dive in and discover the fascinating world of anatomy and physiology!

Exploring through Number Sense, Arithmetic, and Geometry

This course focuses on building elementary students' ability to perform quick calculations with numbers, while teaching the students about arithmetics in the field of mathematics. They will also have a brief overview of Geometry, and diving in-depth with the basic properties and key points in Geometry. Overall, this course guides the students to learn more in the mathematics domain, teaching arithmetics with numbers, number sense and prime factorization, and the basics of Geometry.

Fundamentals of Elementary Math

In the "Fundamentals of Elementary Math" course, students will be equipped with the rudimentary skills necessary to excel in their mathematical journey, using numerical and visual resources! Whether it be exploring different methods of multiplying numbers to discovering the depths of geometry, students will be encouraged to collaborate with their peers to thoroughly grasp the concepts taught. Throughout the duration of the course, one-on-one support will be provided to students to ensure that everyone is progressing at a similar pace!

Introduction to Genetic Engineering

This 8-week introductory course on genetic engineering is designed for middle school students with no prior knowledge of DNA replication and protein synthesis. The curriculum gradually builds foundational understanding, starting with basic microbiology and moving towards more complex topics like CRISPR and the ethical considerations of gene editing. Through interactive activities, discussions, and possibly a final project (based on student progress), students will gain a comprehensive overview of genetic engineering and its applications in various fields, driving them forward to explore the field as a possible career path.

Robotics and Electronic Basics

Dive into the fascinating world of Robotics and Electronics in this hands-on course designed for middle school students. You'll learn fundamental electronics laws, explore components, and understand circuits in an easy-to-grasp manner. The Robotics section will introduce you to Arduino, where you'll learn to code and build exciting projects. By turning theoretical knowledge into practical, real-world applications, this course offers a solid foundation in both electronics and robotics.
